Where the money goes

Most treatment centers don't have a census problem. They have a collections problem.

Behavioral health is one of the hardest specialties to bill. Authorizations change by level of care, payers deny by default, and out-of-network reimbursement depends on who is fighting for it. These are the leaks we fix.

Denials left unworked

Medical necessity, authorization and coding denials that sit in a queue until the appeal window closes.

Authorization and UR gaps

Missed concurrent reviews and step-downs that leave days of care unauthorized, and unpaid.

Level-of-care coding errors

Wrong revenue codes, HCPCS codes or units on detox, RTC, PHP and IOP claims, which trigger underpayment or rejection.

Out-of-network underpayments

Claims paid at a fraction of what the plan owes, with no reprocessing request, appeal or single-case agreement.

Aging accounts receivable

Balances past 90 days that no one owns, including patient responsibility that was never collected.

No visibility for leadership

No clean weekly view of collections, denial rate, days in A/R or reimbursement per day by payer.

Billing by level of care

Billing built for every level of behavioral health care

Each level of care is authorized, coded and paid differently. We run each one with the payer rules, codes and review schedule it requires.

FAQ

Behavioral health billing questions

What does a behavioral health billing company do?

A behavioral health billing company manages the revenue cycle for addiction treatment and mental health providers: verifying insurance, securing authorizations, coding and submitting claims, working denials, posting payments and following up on unpaid balances.

Which levels of care do you bill for?

Detox and withdrawal management, residential treatment (RTC), partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), and outpatient therapy for individual therapists, group practices and clinics.

Do you bill out-of-network claims?

Yes. We bill in-network and out-of-network, and we work underpaid out-of-network claims through reprocessing requests, appeals and single-case agreements.

Do we have to change our EHR?

No. We work inside the EHR and clearinghouse you already use, including Kipu, Alleva, CollaborateMD, Waystar and Availity.

Is the discovery call really free?

Yes. The one-hour discovery consultation is free and there is no obligation. We use it to understand your program and lay out your options.

Can we hire you for just one service?

Yes. We can take on only the pieces you need, such as VOBs, authorizations, utilization review, claims, A/R follow-up, appeals or credentialing. Every project is priced to its scope.

Do you offer revenue audits?

Yes. Audits are a paid engagement, scoped and priced to your program. We can walk through whether one makes sense during your discovery call.

Can you support our in-house billing team instead of replacing it?

Yes. Many treatment centers keep their in-house staff and use us for denials, A/R recovery, authorizations, training or KPI reporting.
